Glen Ballard Welcome to the Glen Ballard website
Glen has an extensive repertoire which extends from the 17th to the 20th Century and her performances have been acclaimed for their imagination and accessibility. Her programmes highlight a wide variety of music from countries such as America, the Czech Republic, Denmark, England, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Russia and Spain with emphasis on 19th and 20th century works. Glen also has a busy teaching career and her educational work has led to her being widely featured on BBC Radio and in the British press for her particular interest in the benefits of flute playing for people with asthma.
Glen is also a gifted pianist: she originally trained as a pianist, at the Royal Academy of Music with Frederic Jackson and Ruth Harte but had to give up because of injury. She has recently returned to the piano and is Research Associate at the Royal Academy of Music, researching and writing a book on York Bowen. She has formed partnerships with the clarinettist Rachel Brown and violin/viola player Shulah Oliver, specialising in performances of York Bowen. Glen also holds an Honours degree in psychology and criminology. “……this was passionate & youthful playing of a passionate & youthful work…..very enjoyable…very convincing…” ( Seen & Heard International). |
